The El Primero was honoured with a 2012 release of the El Primero Stratos Flyback Striking 10th, limited to 1,969 pieces (in honour of the original 1969 release date), that housed the same 36,000 vph movement and a sub-dial measuring in tenths of a second to make a complete rotation every ten seconds. This high rate allows a resolution of 1⁄10 of a second and a potential for greater positional accuracy over the more common standard frequency of 28,800 alternations per hour (4 Hz). To me, if you can get the Daytona, it's almost like a "why not" watch for the Zenith. And to be able to to buy it at least, you also would have to spend tens of thousands in a dealer to have a shot in actually getting the call. The grey market price puts it in a totally different market segment. And for 99% of buyers out there, the Daytona is not even an option. I do not think these two watches are mutually exclusive. It's got the 1/10 sec function (not 100% useful but interesting), display back (which is why it is OK to be slightly thicker), equally nice bracelet, and they seem to be readily available. The case is thinner and it gives an elegant look. As a Daytona owner I appreciate the sub dial for tracking over an hour (which can be used as a travel time/GMT function). They are very different watches although it is kind of obvious Zenith is aiming at the Daytona market.
